It appears that Pete Alonso is no longer a member of the New York Mets. According to multiple sources, Alonso is finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles .
The Mets have now lost Alonso to the Orioles and closer Edwin Díaz to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 48 hours.
On November 24, the Mets traded second baseman Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for Marcus Semien. New York also signed former New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams to a three-year, $51 million deal on December 3.
Taken all together, the Mets’ offseason is being branded as a failure by pretty much their entire fan base.
