An "utterly wicked" woman has been found guilty of trying to murder a toddler "for the drama" by giving her adult medication.
Laura Docherty gave the girl antidepressants and painkilling drugs which led to the child needing resuscitation and ventilation due to the sustained abuse. The 35-year-old who denied the charge of attempted murder at the High Court in Edinburgh was unanimously found guilty by a jury.
Judge Michael O'Grady KC said the details of the case were "deeply troubling and truly shocking" and that Docherty's actions appeared to be simply down to wanting attention.
