Andrew Georgiou called 999 40 minutes after drowning his wife to death at their home in Milton Keynes late last year and attempted to cover his tracks, a court heard

A murderer who drowned his wife in their hot tub attempted to fool police with a bare-faced lie after he called them to the scene of his horrific crime .

Andrew Georgiou pleaded guilty on Tuesday to murdering his wife Carol, 42, at their home in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, on November 2 last year. A hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court was told that Georgiou, 44, held her head under the water of their hot tub until she drowned, and waited 40 minutes before calling emergency services to the property.

When Georgiou did alert 999 , he rolled out a lie in a bid to cover his tracks - but ultimately confessed to the murder
