CHARLESTON — The College of Charleston police officer who was arrested and fired this weekend allegedly took advantage of an “incapacitated female” after he provided her with a courtesy escort home, court documents show.
The Charleston Police Department charged Robert Arnett on Dec. 6 with assault with intent to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office. The College of Charleston fired the 34-year-old the next day, citing a “zero-tolerance policy” for employees who compromise the safety of students, faculty or staff.
An investigation based on victim and witness statements, video evidence and police observations revealed the following information, according to arrest warrant affidavits provided to the newspaper on Dec. 10.
