SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Saguaro High School athletic director Lucas Ackerson is out of a job after he allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a middle school student.

The Scottsdale Unified School District voted unanimously Tuesday to accept his resignation.

On Nov. 25, a middle school student and her parents told school leaders about the direct messages from Ackerson to the student, officials said.

“The District is grateful that the student had the courage to come forward and inform the administration of the inappropriate behavior,” a district spokesperson said in a statement.

Ackerson was placed on administrative leave. Officials said he violated district policy by messaging a student outside of district-approved platforms and instead on his personal accounts.
