Many Oregonians with Aetna health insurance can once again seek care at Providence hospitals and clinics without facing higher, out-of-network charges.

Providence Health & Services in Oregon and Aetna, the national insurer owned by CVS Health, announced that the two have reached a new multi-year agreement that brings Providence — the state’s largest health system — back into Aetna’s network. The deal covers Providence’s eight hospitals and more than 90 clinics across Oregon.

For Aetna’s commercial insurance members, the change took effect Dec. 1 in the Portland area and elsewhere in Oregon. Providence Medford Medical Center and the health system’s medical clinics in southern Oregon returned to the network earlier, on Nov. 15.
