MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) - After three decades in Orlando, the Pop Warner Super Bowl decided it was time for a change of venue.
Charlotte stepped in and fit the bill perfectly.
“Charlotte came to us and came with the best offer” Pop Warner CEO Steve Strawbridge told WBTV. “These fields here (at the Matthews Sportsplex) are incredible, and we wanted to make sure we took advantage of some where new in the country. Charlotte has been everything and more to us.”
Pop Warner is considered the largest youth sports organization in the world, with hundreds of thousands of participants across America.
The Super Bowl brings together the top teams around the country from the 8U to 14U classifications to play against each other in a competitive bracket style tournament.
