A disagreement over what’s left to be fixed on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT led to a dispute between the province and the city at a private meeting over when the long-awaited light-rail line should open.

According to sources who were debriefed on the Dec. 5 meeting, Metrolinx pushed for an opening date at the end of December, while the TTC eyed a start date of Feb. 8 — shortly before Premier Doug Ford and Mayor Olivia Chow told the public they expect the LRT to finally open soon after the new year.

The sources spoke to the Star about the meeting on the condition of anonymity as they weren’t authorized to share the information publicly.
