Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Wolverines fired Sherrone Moore for cause on Wednesday. Biff Pogi was named the interim head coach for the program's contest against No. 13 Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

"Michigan fired coach Sherrone Moore for cause Wednesday after a university investigation that found "credible evidence" he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member," Thamel wrote.

Moore went 17-8 during his two seasons as head coach of Michigan.
