WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - Body camera footage from a July arrest shows a West Haven police officer punching a man 18 times in the head.

The incident led to second-degree assault charges against Officer Richard Naccarato in connection with the July 1 arrest of Kevin Zollo outside JR’s Bar & Grill.

Body camera video shows the initial confrontation as officers try to persuade Zollo to move from the sidewalk where he was sitting and eating. When Naccarato tells Zollo to put his hands behind his back, Zollo stands up and strikes the officer in the face.

As the struggle continues on the ground, Naccarato pushes Zollo’s head to the ground.

The footage shows Naccarato delivering initial punches to the left side of Zollo’s head while Zollo appears to be reaching for the officer’s face. Nacca
