FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - One day after a shooting at Kentucky State University left one student dead and another critically injured, community members gathered at First Corinthian Baptist Church Wednesday evening to call for peace.
People sang and prayed for the lives impacted during Tuesday’s shooting at the university campus.
“Something like this is a tragedy especially to young folk to the students and to the family and to any parent,” said Pastor Leslie Whitlock of First Corinthian Baptist Church, a KSU alumnus who helped organize the vigil.
Whitlock said it is important the community stands up for those impacted by Tuesday’s events.
“We’re here with them, aside them, to help them through this tragic that has happened,” Whitlock said.
