ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - Ashwaubenon’s village board sat down with groups that provide homeless services in Brown County on Wednesday.
The meeting helped give local leaders a clearer picture of homelessness needs in the community.
The Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition, a network of shelters, outreach teams, and providers, walked the Ashwaubenon Village Board through challenges they’re seeing.
“800 individuals on our coordinated entry list are not chronic. That means they’re experiencing homelessness for the first time or are reentering homelessness after a short period in between. But most of them are experiencing homelessness for the first time. Our chronic individuals, that’s 127 individuals county wide, that are experiencing homelessness for more than 6 months at a time,”
