MADISON (WKOW) -- The Specialty Care Free Clinic aims to support the Madison community, and is preparing to play a pivotal role if healthcare prices rise.

Roughly 130 people volunteer at the non-profit, which is currently open Tuesday to Thursday. Executive Director Sheila Martin is looking to bring in more volunteers to expand service and she hopes doing so will help prepare for potential rising costs.

"Our plan is to recruit more volunteer providers so that we're prepared to handle whatever happens," Martin said.

To book an appointment, you need a referral from a doctor, and insurance is not required. There are 24 types of specialty medical care, ranging from neurology to physical therapy.
