The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has secured a significant grant to support neurodivergent staff.
The £46,250 funding, awarded by NHS Charities Together, will be used to launch a Neurodiversity Wellbeing Project aimed at providing specialised assistance to colleagues living with autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.
The initiative, which highlights the evolving nature of workplace support within the NHS, comes after a 2024 staff survey revealed that 10 per cent of NEAS staff live with a disability or long-term health condition.
However, it is believed that the actual number is higher due to underreporting or lack of diagnosis.
Annual staff surveys have consistently highlighted that employees with enduring conditions encounter disproportionate challenges to their wellbeing.
