A huge game from Coleman Multanen lifted the Washougal boys basketball team to a 63-60 road win over Columbia River as both teams opened 2A Greater St. Helens League play on Wednesday.

A junior guard, Multanen scored 34 points and made three of his four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

That allowed the Panthers to lead by seven points in the final two minutes. But Columbia River clamped down on defense and missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Dylan Gibson added 18 points as Washougal improved to 3-1 on the season.

Kellen Clary scored 19 points and Alex Pont added 18 points for Columbia River, which fell to 2-2.
