Days after a fire at a North Goa nightclub left 25 people dead, the district administration on Wednesday barred tourist establishments from using fireworks, sparklers and pyrotechnic devices in their premises, PTI reported.

The order applies to nightclubs, bars and restaurants, hotels, guesthouses, resorts, beach shacks and other such establishments. The South Goa district administration issued a similar order on Tuesday, The Times of India reported.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight on December 7 at Birch by Romeo Lane , a nightclub near Baga beach, killing 20 staff members and five tourists.

A preliminary inquiry has said that “electric firecrackers” set off inside the premises triggered the fire, PTI reported.
