HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s men's basketball team's second-half push lifted it over rival Western Kentucky on Wednesday, 77-61.
The Thundering Herd (6-4) outscored Western Kentucky (6-3) 48-33 in the second half to turn a one-point halftime lead into a runaway.
“We needed that one,” Marshall coach Corny Jackson said, "especially after dropping three straight. To come home and get a win over a really good team in Western Kentucky – they proved how good they were in the Bahamas on national TV -- [was big]. Proud of our guys for coming out and having competitive stamina. We’ve been preaching that the last few days.”
Jalen Speer produced a game-high 24 points, five assists and four rebounds. He finished 4 for 10 from 3 and went 10 for 22 from the field.
