BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A big fire in Burlington on this day in history.

Channel 3’s Brian Joyce was on the scene.

“The blaze broke out on Burlington’s Winooski Avenue just after 3 a.m. Two houses and a furniture warehouse burned to the ground in less than an hour. Four other apartment houses were gutted before the fire was knocked down three houses later,” reported Joyce.

It was the biggest fire in Burlington in 16 years.

22 people were left homeless, but no one was injured.
