A Delhi trial court has granted two-week interim bail to jailed activist and former JNU student Umar Khalid, an accused in the Delhi riots larger conspiracy case, to attend his sister’s wedding later this month.
The court allowed his application and granted relief from December 16 to December 29 on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
Khalid had approached the Karkardooma Court seeking interim bail from December 14 to December 29, saying that his sister’s wedding is scheduled for December 27 and that his presence is essential for family ceremonies and preparations.
In December last year, the judge had granted interim bail for 7 days to Khalid for attending a wedding in the family. Earlier, in 2022, he was also granted interim bail for a week to attend his
