As a fashion writer I probably spend about 80% of my day thinking about what to wear, so it's fair to say I know a decent sale when I see one. High street retailer New Look is currently having a massive up to 50% off winter sale , including everything from knitwear and jackets to trousers and dresses.

I'm a big believer that sales aren't a time for impulse purchases - I like to use discounts as a way to fill gaps in my wardrobe and buy things I've had my eye on full price. Big ticket items such as winter coats are often ideal pieces to invest in on sale thanks to the potential to make big savings.
