The Luthra brothers, owners of the Goa nightclub where a blaze killed 25 people, told a Delhi court that they were getting death threats from people on social media and even might be lynched if they returned to the state. While seeking anticipatory bail, the Luthras argued that they were not on the run as was being portrayed and went to Thailand to set up a restaurant in Phuket.

"I am not saying that the state is not authorised to take steps, but here the state is on a path of revenge... My properties are being demolished. I may be lynched in Goa," advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir, appearing for Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub , said.
