Montreal remains under a yellow weather alert, warning of blowing and accumulating snow on roads.

The city had been bracing for up to 20 cm of snow Wednesday, but less than two centimetres had fallen before midnight — and the same amount can be expected Thursday. The temperature will fall to minus-9 C during the day, with a wind chill of minus-18 in the afternoon. At night, a low of minus-11 with a w ind chill near minus-20 C.

Wind gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour “could whip up the snow” that did fall, Environment Canada says in its Thursday travel advisory, warning that snowdrifts could develop. Several road accidents were reported Wednesday that could be tied to the weather conditions.

There were some delays at Trudeau airport, but no indication they were connected with weather
