President Donald Trump's approval rating has gone underwater in two Republican-leaning states, Iowa and Ohio, polling has shown.

According to polling by Morning Consult, Trump's approval rating in both these states is net -1 percentage point, with 48 percent approving of him and 49 percent disapproving. The pollsters, which analysis approval ratings on a weekly basis, said that in their previous analysis Trump's approval rating in these two states had been positive.

Newsweek reached out to the White House by email outside of normal business hours for comment.

Why It Matters

Trump has won Iowa and Ohio in every election he has stood in. He won Iowa with 56 percent of the vote in the 2024 presidential election and Ohio with 55.2 percent.
