Police officers found dynamite in a vehicle during an investigation Wednesday at a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center in Apache Junction.

Officers found the explosives when they responded to a call about a person in crisis at Axiom Care, 105 N. Ocotillo Road, police said.

“Officers took time to build rapport with the individual, providing reassurance and support that helped de-escalate the situation,” a release from the Apache Junction Police Department stated.

They connected the person, who told them there was dynamite in their vehicle, with appropriate mental health services, police said.

Officers requested assistance from the Mesa Police Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit to assess and handle the materials, which were safely seized, police said.
