A chain with a silver peanut shell dangling as a charm rested around the neck of a legendary artist in Charleston, atop his brown blazer and beneath the matching flat cap on his head.

"This necklace is older than you," Joseph " P-Nut tha Legend " Johnson, now 70, assured a man who wandered into Drummond Studio Gallery on the morning of Dec. 4, the day before Johnson's latest art show was to take place.

Dozens of paintings featuring scenes of various people, buildings, critters and even inanimate objects with text bubbles were hanging from the walls. A few more canvases rested on the ground awaiting their placement.

"I don't know about that, I'm 40," offered the man.

"Oh this older, way older than that," P-Nut replied with a toothy grin.

He then pointed at one of his paintings.
