It’s back to the drawing board for Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow .

This week at the MLB Winter Meetings, he saw two of the team’s top free-agent options come off the board. Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber re-signed with Philadelphia on a five-year, $150 million deal . Then former New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

So now what?

“Eugenio Suarez is yet another infielder the Red Sox are showing interest in. Also: (Alex) Bregman, (Bo) Bichette , (Kazuma) Okamoto , (Jorge) Polanco , (Ketel) Marte ,” the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports.
