PROVIDENCE – How long or short the road trip is doesn’t seem to matter to the University of Rhode Island women .

The Rams have looked right at home to date away from the Ryan Center, and Wednesday night was the latest example. They survived an extended rough stretch thanks to a strong finish and dispatched in-state rival Providence for the first time in three meetings.

Vanessa Harris drilled a cold-blooded 3-pointer that served as the dagger, as URI finally took command for good with 1:04 to play. The Rams held on from there for a 57-51 victory over the Friars at Alumni Hall on Dec. 10, and the bus ride back to campus was especially sweet after dropping the last two games in this series by a combined four points.
