Rams fans had been wondering when they would get a real look at Blake Corum, the compact and explosive runner who helped deliver Michigan a national title in 2024. The wait appears to be over. The second-year back has burst onto the scene in Los Angeles over the past few weeks, giving the Rams offense a new gear just in time for the stretch run.
Corum’s first true breakout came two weeks ago against the Carolina Panthers. He carried the ball just seven times but turned those limited touches into 81 yards and a touchdown, averaging an eye-popping 11.6 yards per carry. That performance turned heads, though some wondered if it was a one-week flash. The next Sunday, against the Arizona Cardinals, Corum erased all doubt. On 12 carries, he racked up 128 yards and two touchdowns, putting together one of the most efficient outings by any running back this season.
For a player who has spent most of the last two years waiting behind Kyren Williams, Corum’s sudden surge has been impossible to ignore. Kyren Williams has been productive since taking over the starting job and remains a critical piece for Sean McVay’s offense. Still, even McVay has acknowledged the value of getting Corum more involved alongside Williams. Pro Football Focus graded Corum among the top five backs in yards after contact over the past two weeks, showing that the balance and power of Blake have translated seamlessly from the college game.
Fantasy managers have taken notice, too. Most of the latest waiver wire columns listed Corum as one of the week’s top pickups, calling his upside “league-winning” if his role expands heading into playoff season. With the Rams sitting as one of the top NFL teams and Stafford leading one of the league’s most efficient offenses, Corum’s emergence could not have come at a better time.
Much like his championship run with Michigan, Corum’s late-season surge has that same spark of momentum. He may still be sharing snaps for now, but his energy, vision, and finishing ability make him hard to keep off the field. The Rams have found a difference-maker, and Blake Corum looks ready to help Los Angeles chase another kind of championship, but this time it’s on Sundays.
