Komets coach Jesse Kallechy saw something familiar when he studied tape on the Kansas City Mavericks this week.

The Mavericks of the Mountain Division sound a lot like another team that sports black and orange on their sweaters.

“It’s probably the closest thing to looking in a mirror in terms of the depth that they have,” Kallechy said. “Lines one through four are deep, pairings one through six. They’re talented.”

The Komets begin a three-day weekend against one of the league’s best, Kansas City, at 7:30 p.m. today at Memorial Coliseum in the team’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
