Police and child volunteers have carried out undercover tests at Shrewsbury hotels to prevent child sexual exploitation.

West Mercia Police said the efforts had been part of national efforts to tackle the sexual exploitation of children.

A statement from the force said: "Officers in Shrewsbury , carried out covert ‘mystery shopper’ style visits to four large chain hotels on Tuesday evening (9 December), as part of a national initiative to prevent child sexual exploitation.
