BIG RIDGE STATE PARK, Tenn. (WVLT) - A trench collapse rescue is underway at Big Ridge State Park, according to Maynardville Mayor Ty Blakely.
The mayor wasn’t able to share many details, but did say that the collapse involved a crew with Hallsdale-Powell Utility District.
A representative for Union County’s dispatch service said the call for help came around 8:08 a.m. for two people trapped. The representative also said Paulette Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding agency.
Captain Jeff Bagwell with Rural Metro Fire said his agency was not called to the rescue, but the Knox County Rescue Squad had been called.
This is a developing story.
