PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A 70-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash involving a semitruck in Pickaway County Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in the 9000 block of U.S. 62 in Orient around 10:40 a.m.

The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office said that 70-year-old David Shannon was driving his 2023 Dodge Ram east on U.S. Route 62 and attempted to pass another vehicle heading eastbound. During the passing attempt, Shannon collided head-on with a 2023 Kenworth semitruck traveling westbound on the road.

According to the sheriff's office, the impact from the crash caused the semitruck to go left center and side swipe a 2012 Subaru. The Subaru spun out and struck a utility pole.

Shannon was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office did not say whether the other drivers were injur
