Access to quality, comprehensive health insurance is one of the strongest predictors of whether someone will survive cancer. This became clear to me when I was diagnosed with lung cancer and thrust into a gauntlet of appointments, tests and treatments. Thankfully, I was covered through Pennie and didn’t have to consider delaying or forgoing this critical care.
In addition to being a survivor, I am a small business owner and, like many entrepreneurs, I have purchased my insurance through Pennie for years.
I can afford to do so largely because of the enhanced premium tax credits for Marketplace plans. Without comprehensive health insurance made affordable by the tax credits, my care would have come with a $700,000 price tag.
These tax credits do more than connect
