ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Former University of Michigan Head Football Coach Sherrone Moore was detained Wednesday night, hours after the university announced he had been fired.
According to a statement from the University of Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel, Moore was terminated with cause, effective immediately.
Following an investigation by the university, credible evidence was found that Moore engaged in an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member."
"This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior," Manuel said.
ESPN writer Dan Wetzel reported Moore was detained by police Wednesday evening in Saline Twp. and turned over to police in Pittsfield Twp. for an investigation into potential charges.
