WASHINGTON — A federal judge in Maryland Thursday ordered the Trump administration to immediately release Kilmar Abrego Garcia from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.

Abrego Garcia is a Salvadoran immigrant who cast a spotlight on the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration crackdown after he was wrongly deported, imprisoned in a brutal prison in El Salvador and returned to the United States, where he was again detained.
