During an appearance on MS NOW on Friday morning, a former Donald Trump appointee to the State Department expressed alarm at the president’s collapse when it comes to addressing voters' concerns and suggested age maybe taking it’s toll.
Speaking with “Way Too Early” host Ali Vitali, Matthew Bartlett, now a GOP strategist, called the atmosphere for the GOP dangerous with the midterms right around the corner while suggesting the party should have anticipated the president’s decline.
With host Vitali pointing that it is “Striking to see Trump losing out on an issue that he has had a vice-like grip on,” the very animated Bartlett replied, “Listen, it is absolutely brutal economically to have a family, live , work, eat, breathe.“
“American groceries, healthcare, and again, the same powerful notion in American politics, affordability, that returned Republicans to power are the ones plaguing them now!”
“Again, the president — if we only had this test case scenario of an elderly president running around the country telling Americans that everything is fine — if we knew how that went,” he added.
“So, yeah, I think it is going to continue to be challenging,” he continued. “Affordability is a hard thing to solve. In the first administration, I’ll say this, we deregulated, we cut taxes, and everybody was getting jobs. You got out of jail, we got a job for you. Now what do we have? Tariffs.”
