James Madison’s incoming coach, Billy Napier, could help the Dukes and their outgoing staff in their preparation to face No. 5 Oregon in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Dukes coach Bob Chesney, who was formally introduced at UCLA on Tuesday, kept the door open to potentially enlisting Napier in the team’s game planning once he returns to Harrisonburg, Virginia and JMU begins practicing today.
“I think those are all conversations that possibly could be had,” Chesney said Sunday. “But at the same point, I didn’t get that far yet to be honest with you.”
A CFP spokesman confirmed there are no restrictions on incoming coaches in their roles with teams participating in the playoff.
