The Pennsylvania Superior Court on Thursday rejected an appeal by convicted murderer Peter Jonathan Gillis, who was found guilty by Luzerne County jury in the fatal shooting of his neighbor in Exeter Township in 2020.
A three-member panel of the appellate court in a three page order dismissed Gillis’ appeal on “woefully inadequate” reasons.
Gillis appealed the jury’s verdict and life-sentence without parole claiming inadequate evidence was wrongfully permitted to be introduced during the trial held before Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. in September 2023.
Gillis was charged by the Pennsylvania State Police at Wilkes-Barre after he fatally shot Robert Frances Kile Sr., 57, in the driveway of his residence along state Route 92 on June 19, 2020.
