Former Maryland Rep. David Trone on Thursday announced he is running for his old seat in the state’s 6th District.
Trone will challenge incumbent Rep. April McClain Delaney in the June 2026 primary. Trone gave up his seat last year to run for Senate, losing the Democratic primary to now Sen. Angela Alsobrooks.
The Total Wine and More founder is expected to spend millions on his seat.
“We can’t have any Democrats in Congress voting with Trump; we need to be fighting against him,” Trone said.
McClain Delaney posted on X shortly after Trone announced he was running. She said the seat is not a consolation prize.
