Police are investigating a crash in Davie that left one person dead on Thursday.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the 3600 block of South University Drive, Davie Police said.

Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity hasn't been released.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed both vehicles heavily damaged and debris scattered across the roadway. One of the vehicles was partially covered by a yellow tarp.

According to police, everyone involved stayed at the scene and was cooperating. Officials haven't said if there were other people injured.

Detectives are investigating what led to the crash.

The crash left a section of southbound University Drive closed, and drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.
