A Scottish newspaper editor has been arrested and charged in connection with “indecent online communications”. ‌

David McCann has been suspended from his position as editor of The Times and The Sunday Times in Scotland. He was charged after police officers “executed a search warrant at a property in the Edinburgh area” on November 25. ‌

Times owner News UK confirmed that McCann has been suspended from the business while he is subject to a “criminal investigation unrelated to his work”. ‌

He made no plea after appearing in Edinburgh Sheriff court on November 26 before being released on bail after appearing in court again on November 27.
