The Puadhi Manch Thursday raised strong objections to GMADA’s “rush” in acquiring 3,553 acres of land across eight Mohali villages for the Aerotropolis expansion project. The organisation announced that it will soon file a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, alleging procedural lapses and injustice to farmers.

Manch member Parmdeep Singh Baidwan said GMADA completed the Social Impact Assessment in just 10 days, terming it “nothing more than a paperwork exercise”. He added that moving ahead with land acquisition without addressing farmers’ concerns is direct injustice to the local community.

The protest comes a day after GMADA issued the formal land acquisition notification signed by Vikas Garg, Principal Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Develo
