SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri Department of Revenue recently updated its computer systems to eliminate temporary tags, track drivers’ insurance status, and let car buyers pay taxes at the dealership. But the system won’t be operational for at least a year.
The situation mirrors the overhaul of safety-net systems within the Missouri Department of Social Services since 2013. Those delays have had consequences for Missouri residents seeking state assistance.
Steph Quinn with the Missouri Independent News Service investigated the ongoing computer system challenges facing multiple state agencies. She discussed the challenges with KY3’s Steve Grant. Read her reporting by clicking here.
