NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A southern Indiana lawmaker is the latest Republican to face threats amid the state’s redistricting push.
Rep. Ed Clere (R-New Albany) has been a staunch opponent of the redistricting plan despite pressure from President Donald Trump and his administration.
In October, Clere told WHAS11 the controversial move was “gamesmanship” and called it “cheating.”
On Thursday, Indiana State Police (ISP) Sgt. Carey Huls confirmed a threat was made against Clere just days after he voted against approving the new congressional maps.
According to the IndyStar in Indianapolis, an unknown caller claimed they placed a pipe bomb at Clere's home on Wednesday.
Huls said a search of the home found nothing, but troopers stayed at Clere’s home overnight for extra protection.
