A 35-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged after committing numerous crimes in South Brunswick, authorities announced Thursday, Dec. 11.

At 8:45 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 9, a man driving a Tesla on Catelli Road was confronted by a suspect driving a black Dodge Charger, South Brunswick police said.

The Tesla driver said the Dodge pulled into his path and the driver pointed a gun at him, police said. The Tesla driver swerved away and drove off, immediately calling 911, police said.

A second 911 caller reported he had just been robbed at gunpoint in the same area, police said. The victim said he was sitting in his car parked on the street when the Dodge Charger pulled up next to him and the driver robbed him, police said.

Plainsboro police then received a 911 call of the same suspect pointing a firearm at a vehicle on Mapleton Road near the South Brunswick border, police said.

During the investigation, detectives learned the suspect had committed three additional armed robberies within minutes of the South Brunswick crimes in Mercer County, and in one instance the suspect fired a gunshot, police said.

Using the Tesla video recording system, police identified the suspect as Bial Bellamy and he was tracked to a residence in Phillipsburg, where he was arrested, police said.

Police recovered the firearm, a wig, mask, and a reflective vest the suspect had been wearing at the time of the crimes, police said.

Bellamy is charged with armed robbery and multiple weapons offenses, police said.
