Jefferson County broke open a close game with a 22-point run in the second quarter and went on to a 57-47 triumph over Morristown East Tuesday night at Isenburg-Siler Gym.
The Patriots trailed by one at the end of the first stanza and East’s Chance Stokely scored the first bucket of the second period to put the Hurricanes in front 17-14.
But Jefferson County held the ‘Canes to a single free throw over the final seven minutes of the half on its way to its seventh win against two losses.
Brody Carr, a Vanderbilt baseball signee, tossed in 17 to lead the Patriots’ attack. Shawn Jackson added nine and Hudson Estes and Bentley Watkins seven each.
The Hurricanes, now 2-7, got 16 points from Jaxson Archer while Brayden Smith had nine and Aaron Carpenter eight.
