FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Kentucky is opening its first dispensary nearly a year after medical marijuana became legal in the state.

Medical marijuana was legalized in Kentucky at the beginning of 2025, but there has yet to be any sold in Kentucky.

But that is changing this weekend.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday the first dispensary will open in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on Saturday. Beaver Dam is about 2 hours southwest of Louisville.

Beshear said the location is called The Post Dispensary and is located at 300 North Main Street, with Saturday serving as the soft opening.
