BROOKFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - A Brookfield man turned himself in to police last month on animal cruelty charges after a months-long investigation revealed two dogs living in what authorities described as deplorable conditions.

Willie Hendricks, 36, was arrested on two counts of cruelty to animals following an investigation that began in May with reports to the state Department of Children and Families.

Hendricks posted $1,000 bond and was released. He was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on December 2.

The case started unfolding in October when Regional Animal Control Officer Darryl Ballo received a call from a woman who had been on FaceTime with someone retrieving mail from Hendricks’ home.
