London police have laid an additional charge of public incitement of hatred against a man they charged this summer with uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
In an update Thursday, police say the new charge was brought against the man following further investigation, and review and consent by Ontario’s attorney-general so it could proceed.
The case traces back to July 2, when London police say they received information about a man making racially motivated threats online directed toward the South Asian and Latin American communities, confirming several such posts on social media through the month of June.
Officers identified and arrested a man on July 2 at a home in the area of Southdale Road East and Millbank Drive, police said previously.
