Timothee Chalamet has refused to deny that his alter ego is rapper EsDeeKid.
The alt-rapper is known for the track LV Sandals which went viral on TikTok. He speaks in a Liverpudlian accent but remains anonymous and always performs in a balaclava.
The rapper released the album, Rebel, earlier in the year. Now, some fans are convinced that the man behind the mask is actor Timothée Chalamet. They have pointed out that the Wonka star has spoken openly about his love of hip-hop and that when he was a child, he performed as a rapper called Lil Timmy Tim. Some people believe EsDeeKid and Timothee's eyes look the same, and also believe the fact that they both have a double 'e' in their names is a clue to the mysterious rapper's identity.
When asked about the rumour by Heart FM presenters Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, Timothee replied, "I've got no comment on that." He then said, "I got two words on that," before adding, "all will be revealed in due time."
When Amanda incorrectly called his childhood rap persona, Little Timmy, he laughed, saying it "doesn't have the same ring to it."
EsDeeKid has not publicly commented on the rumours. In 2026, the rapper will be doing an Australian and North American tour.
Timothee is currently starring in Marty Supreme with Gwyneth Paltrow. In November, the 29-year-old was given a Grammy nomination for singing on the album to accompany his role in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
